Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd design, manufacture and market level, volume, open channel flow, pipe flow and pump control instrumentation. Our company specialises in non-intrusive measurement, and our technology is used in a wide variety of industries and applications worldwide.
By concentrating on the development of ultrasonic level measurement, we believe that Pulsar can be fairly described as the world technology leader in this field.
The product range has been designed to provide a full range of alternatives, from single point of measurement installations right through to complex multi-point applications with digital communications. The ultrasonic range has been augmented with other products, so for the water industry, interface monitors for tricky sludge level measurement application have been added together with units that can be used to warn of pump failure. In more general level applications, single point measurement devices are available where continuous level measurement is inappropriate.

With the release of Ultra 3 and Ultra 5, Pulsar has taken non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement into a new era. The Ultra units are the first to incorporate full specification ultrasonic level, control and open channel flow measurement within a single controller.
Although multifunction deviceshave been available before, they have offered a reduced set of functions, limiting accuracy and flexibility for the user. The Ultra project has brought together accurately calculated volume monitoring; water industry standard, highly sophisticated pump control, and open channel flow monitoring to BS3680, capable of meeting MCERTS standards.
An engineer can now specify an Ultra 3 or Ultra 5 unit with complete confidence, knowing that even if requirements change in the future the device can be simply reconfigured to the new requirements. Each unit is compatible with the full range of Pulsar dB transducers, from the new dBMACH3 measuring from as little as 70mm, right through to the high power dB40, offering a 40m range on solids or liquids.
Ultra 3 features three 5A relays for control or alarm, while Ultra 5 includes five. Ultra 5 also includes analogue niput facilities and a number of more advanced pump control routines. Both Ultra units can be expanded to include extra on-board data logging capabilities and Modbus Profibus communications.
