Jarshire Ltd: 1979-2009
22 September 2009, News release from Jarshire Limited
A family business serving the Converting and Paper Mills industries for 30 years
Myra and Peter Jobson formed Jarshire Ltd in September 1979 to serve the paper, board, film and foil industries. Peter retired in 2006 but Myra is still very involved in the administration of the business. Now in its second generation of tenure, the company works in two distinct market areas - Converting and Paper Mills, headed David Jobson, and Environment and Recycling, headed by Nick Jobson.
Systems and equipment supplied include infrared drying; web tensioning and control systems; shafts, brakes and clutches; reel handling and loading systems; doctoring blades; knife holders; bowed and spreader rollers; antistatic management; slitting trimming and waste removal systems; stack wrapping equipment; and balers capable of handling paper, cardboard, plastic and non-ferrous materials.
Under current operating condition, Jarshire is finding that companies are opting to upgrade and improve existing machines rather than commission new machinery. This is where they are well placed to recommend retrofit equipment as a result of their long-standing agency agreements with well-respected companies in their respective fields.
Agencies such as Svecom PE, whom they have represented since 1983. Svecom PE is the largest single-site manufacturer of airshafts and chucks in the world. It was the first to offer a multi-bladder air shaft, and it pioneered lightweight aluminium profiles to meet manual handling legislation.
Although Jarshire is planning for the future, they have not lost sight of Peter's original philosophy: represent the best, give attention to detail and provide 100% back-up and service to the customer. Should something go wrong, or performance is not up to the standard expected, customers know that Jarshire will always work to ensure the problem is corrected.
David Jobson comments that, although customers, some of whom are original customers or the sons of original customers, have asked him to revert to 1979 prices thinking they would get a bargain, they would be wrong and overcharged as most prices are now cheaper than 30 years ago.
