Enhanced biogas analysers on show at ebec

BIOGAS 5000 upgrade: simple single gas reading

Geotech BIOGAS 5000

Portable biogas analyser users can now upgrade to the latest, time-saving firmware with a no-cost Internet download from Geotech. Visitors to ebec stand A47 can try out the new Geotech simple gas operation mode for users to take and store a single gas measurement. The BIOGAS 5000 now offers users the simplest possible means of taking routine readings of the key gases, particularly methane (CH4). Regularly used to monitor H2S before and after desulphurisation, the BIOGAS 5000 can measure H2S from 0- 10,000ppm. This portable biogas analyser measures gases produced during anaerobic digestion, including CH4, CO2, O2 and H2S. It also measures system pressure and gas flow and has a 3-year warranty.

No charge for upgrade
Available on all BIOGAS 5000 analysers, users can simply download and add this firmware upgrade at no cost. Alternatively, Geotech will automatically complete the upgrade when it services and calibrates analysers.

User-set default mode
All BIOGAS 5000 analysers users can select 'simple gas reading' which simplifies use of the analyser functionality, as their preferred default. A new short video shows the enhanced ways of using the BIOGAS 5000 analyser at: www.geotechuk.com/update

Fixed position analyser
The Geotech GA3000 PLUS fixed position, user-installed automatic biogas analyser can now have up to three biogas sample points. It analyses CH4, CO2, O2 and, also new, H2S at 0-50ppm and 0-10,000ppm. The new developments, as options, enhance the already widely used ATEX Zone 2 certified GA3000 for AD biogas and landfill gas analysis.

Multi-sample point biogas analysis
With three sample points, AD operators can measure gas quality from more than one digester to check output from each before the gas is mixed and then check mixed gas before it goes to the CHP engine. Tracking production at source can help improve output and spot problems early. By measuring the gas going to CHP and to flare, operators can control both. Thus with multi-point sampling, operators achieve more analysis from one fixed analyser giving even better value. A 4-20mA output for each gas is standard, as is Modbus digital output, allowing communication with SCADA systems. Alarm relays are user configurable.

For AD, H2S measurement pre- and post-treatment shows the effectiveness of H2S removal and maintaining H2S below acceptable CHP thresholds and compliance with CHP manufacturer warranty contracts. Vital for CHP restart and protection against sudden gas level changes, the GA3000 PLUS fixed biogas analyser can pay back in weeks or even days. The Geotech GA3000 PLUS can also measure carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2) and has a heater option which enables optimum analyser performance in cold climates.
