SembCorp Utilities UK - Analytical Services Laboratory - Biofuel Analysis

The Analytical Services Laboratory of SembCorp Utilities UK is structured to operate with three technical teams to give flexible support to our clients. The teams cover the areas of Process Control, Process emissions and General Chemical Analysis.

The use of sustainable fuels in energy production and the economic recovery of ROC is now a very key issue.

SembCorp is at the forefront of this area with its Wilton 10 Project. This is to build a 30MW boiler running on sustainable fuel, in this case short rotation coppice wood grown locally to the boiler, combined with a small proportion of recovered wood. This project is close to completion and SembCorp's Analytical Services Laboratory can now offer a wood analysis test suite. This includes the all important purity test protocol for providing data to OFGEM for ROC recovery. The Process Emissions team handling this work are in the process of getting ISO 17025 accreditation for these tests with the first audit due shortly.

We are also able to work with clients in testing other sustainable fuel types such as bioethanol and biodiesel. For more information contact Marc Leighton at or 01642 212363
