Get a Grip of your Odour and Dust.

Control Odour and Dust from the beginning not just when there is a problem. All to often industries that generate odour as a by-product of their processes only pay attention when the issue really becomes a complaint, the EA gets involved and everything escalates in terms of costs and timescales.

Planning the odour control or dust suppression into the build or redevelopment of a site has plenty of benefits. It is considerably cheaper to factor in and plan odour and dust control at the planning stage because retrospectively installing control systems such as Rotary Atomisers or nozzle line systems means increased costs and potential complications working on an operational site. Retro fits are more complicated, time consuming and more expensive than planning up front whereas planning early ensures that all the aspects of the site process and surrounding area can be managed.

Planned intervention for odour and dust control also reduces the risk of EA and governing bodies being involved and better budget management.

Air Spectrum won a contract to work on the new £20million state-of-the-art Advanced Waste Treatment Centre by Avondale Environmental to supply the odour control equipment for Avondale's pioneering Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), located in Polmont, central Scotland.

The contract was to install their award-winning quad and single-zone Rotary Atomiser systems to ensure all odours produced by the site during this process are efficiently neutralised. Both these Air Spectrum systems are in line with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) requirement for Avondale to fulfil their obligations with regard to odour control on that particular site.

The MRF is capable of processing 200,000 tonnes of waste every year - 60 per cent of which will be diverted from going to landfill through recycling and developing fuels, from the waste, for energy production.

Preplanning and being involved with the project from the beginning proved beneficial for both client and supplier and the whole plan and install was smooth and errorfree, leaving Avondale with an efficient odour management system from day 1 and a system with known and reducing running costs and effective ROI.
