European expansion is just part of the plan
17 September 2012, News release from Waterra (UK) Limited
A few eyebrows were raised in late 2010 when US water monitoring leader, In- Situ® Inc., announced its acquisition of Waterra UK Ltd.
In actual fact the resulting company, Waterra-In-Situ, has established itself as a strategically important resource with an impressive commitment to development and growth.
The headline change is that in less than two years since the takeover, the company has been given the responsibility of handling all of In-Situ®'s business in both the EU and an extended region comprising Eastern Europe, Greenland and Iceland. This move provides European customers with faster access to
In-Situ® and Waterra products backed up by a local source of service and technical support, including a new Distribution Manager, Dieter Grieß, based on the ground in Germany.
This expression of confidence by In-Situ® reflects the moves by the company in expanding the UK, Ireland and EU business by offering new products and improving customer service.
The product and service portfolio has been enhanced in a number of ways. First and foremost has been the launch of In-Situ®'s highly advanced level logging and water quality devices. Products such as the Level TROLL water level, temperature and pressure loggers, the TROLL 9500 and the (brand new) Aqua TROLL 400 multiparameter water quality instruments are setting the standard for field durability and outstanding accuracy.
In addition, Waterra-In-Situ has maintained its commitment to supporting client requirements by adding complementary products to its groundwater sampling range, such as the new, Easy Load II Peristaltic Pump and the low voltage SS Geosub submersible pump, amongst many others. Finally, the company continues to expand its rental options, giving clients a cost effective alternative to purchasing, and which is available for water quality, level logging and pumping equipment. The superb Low Flow Sampling Kit has been a particular hit with our rental customers.
Product enhancements have been backed up by changes to the people side of the operation. Peter Dumble, Waterra-In-Situ's Technical Director, has a greater remit to provide both direct client support and develop customer and distributor training programmes across Europe. The company has also recently appointed two full time Field Sales Managers (Kayleigh Smith and Tom Stone) who will be able to provide first level support capability as well as highlight the capabilities of our products. The company success is also based on a knowledgeable and committed sales and admin team with over 70 years' combined experience in the market sector.
Jonathan Trelfa, Waterra-In-Situ's Managing Director, and Managing Director Europe, is excited by the prospects for the future:
"We are creating a superb blend of technology, people and processes to support our clients. The combination of the R&D dynamo of In-Situ® plus our ability to tailor the overall offering for the UK and European market presents more and more opportunities for us to advance over the next few years."
