EcoSack - sacks for all reasons
2 December 2004, News release from EcoSack
EcoSack supply a complete range of paper sacks for every purpose in the waste sector with the paper specification being matched to suit purpose whether it be for composting, recycling or shredding. The sacks range in size from the small 8 litre Kitchen Caddy Liners, through the 75 litre Garden and Paper waste sacks to the 240 litre Wheelie Bin Liners.
Those sacks that are required to be composted meet the stringent Certification of the Din Certco scheme, as supported by The Composting Association, the Belgian OK Compost Mark and the Dutch Kiwa Milieukeur.
Ian Watson, Sales Director for EcoSack said: " We feel that such international approval for our products increases our credibility in the market place and gives clients assurance that our products live up to our claims for them. Individual, corporate and local authority customers need to know that what is flagged as a green product really is better for the environment than the alternatives. Our products have carried this certification for many years and we are proud of that recognition.
EcoSack is a subsidiary of the Korsnas Packaging Group, an international company with manufacturing plants throughout Europe producing over 900 million paper sacks per year. Some 90 million of that total are manufactured specifically for the waste sector, most supplied within mainland Europe but with an increasing number being supplied in the UK.
All the paper we use is from a fully approved Forestry Stewardship Council source. The paper is made using parts of the tree that would otherwise be discarded during the timber manufacturing process thus making the greatest possible use of each tree felled. For each tree felled two more are planted thereby ensuring the continuation of the forest environment. During the whole life of the tree, some 70 years, it is absorbing the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, and giving off oxygen. No other sack medium is capable of that.
The sacks supplied for the collection of garden and kitchen waste are moisture and puncture resistant enabling them to withstand the rigours of a kerbside collection. Due to the 'Block bottom' the sacks sit squarely on the ground for ease of filling and a thumb notch is also incorporated enabling the sack to be easily opened even when wearing thick garden gloves. Given also that when the paper degrades it gives structure to the compost and helps with the Carbon:Nitrogen balance then you have a sack ideally suited to composting.
We also manufacture and supply paper sacks in differing paper specifications for the collection of waste paper.
This sack has to meet the requirements of the receiving paper mill where both the sack and its contents can be recycled. This sack type is ideally suited to offices and workplaces as they are free standing and preclude the need for outer cases and stands. The sack can be printed to customer requirements enabling a clear informed message to be passed to the user.
Paper to collect paper. How logical!!
Another waste sector which is suited by our products is the Secure Shredding market.
More and more of our Secure Shredding sacks are being used as people recognise the benefits of using paper sacks rather than polyprop bags.
Derrrick Cockcroft of C & C Destruction Services Limited said: "We had tried several types of sacks made of different materials but the big disadvantage was that none of them could be shredded, which meant you had lots of bags left over after shredding. What we really wanted was one made of paper. One reason is that you can shred the sack as well, which avoids the danger of sensitive documents being accidentally left in the bags. It can be difficult to see a white document against a white bag. Destroying the bag removes that risk. Being able to shred the sack with its contents has also meant a significant reduction in our costs"
