One simple solution to the Carbon Reduction Commitment
17 September 2009, News release from powerPerfector
16 September 2009: This month the Environment Agency is distributing qualification packs to all UK electricity billing addresses with settled half hourly meters.
The aim is to assess companies' energy consumption for 2008 and their potential for the Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme. One simple solution is to install a powerPerfector unit.
Part of the government's legislation on climate change, the CRC will make excessive energy consumption a matter for compliance from April 2010. Carbon will no longer be a hidden cost to business but have a hard cost attached to it. Defra has said around 20,000 organisations may be affected by the scheme, and that failure to comply will result in penalties including monetary fines.
One straightforward response to excessive energy consumption - and meeting CRC targets - is powerPerfector's unique Voltage Optimisation technology. Positioned between your building's main distribution board and the electricity meter, the unit optimises the incoming voltage and improves power quality, supplying the level at which all your equipment works most efficiently (the EU norm of 220V instead of the UK average of 242V).
Put simply, Voltage Optimisation means maximum efficiency for both the power supply and equipment, and, as an added bonus, protection from power spikes.
Voltage optimisation is important because the cost of electricity is rising along with demand, whilst reliability and quality of supply are becoming more of an issue. Now, with clear priorities on carbon reduction for a positive impact on climate change, the imperative to act has never been greater.
"Costs, carbon and climate change are priorities for business leaders everywhere," said powerPerfector CEO Angus Robertson. "Voltage optimisation enables you to start solving them immediately, tackling waste and quality issues. With powerPerfector you can save up to 20% of your electricity costs and CO2 emissions in one installation. That means a fixed saving in costs and emissions, getting ahead of CRC targets and becoming a better corporate citizen."
