EMS Ltd helps Cranberry Foods with their promise to Customers
12 March 2010, News release from Environmental Monitoring Solutions Limited
In an industry where the highest level of quality, safety and traceability is essential, Cranberry Foods, the UK's second largest turkey producer, is dedicated to excellence.
They manage carefully every aspect of the production cycle from breeding, hatching, growing to ultimately product quality as it is delivered to their delighted customers.
In 2008 Cranberry Foods started working with Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd (EMS) to strengthen their guarantee to customers in terms of their environmental impacts.
EMS recommended an initial environmental review of the Cranberry Foods site in Derbyshire and a gap analysis against the requirements of ISO14001: 2004 standards. This would determine the current environmental performance of Cranberry Foods and any work required to comply with the clauses of the ISO14001: 2004 standards.
The environmental review and ISO14001: 2004 gap analysis included a site inspection, a review of existing procedures, discussions with personnel and an assessment of legal compliance. An environmental review took into account many aspects on site including:
The initial review concluded that Cranberry Foods were committed to continuous environmental improvements and further audits are ongoing. Cranberry colleagues have undergone training to not only make them aware of the regulations and legal compliances but to ensure best environmental practices are implemented across the company.
Cranberry Foods is now in a strong working partnership with EMS who bring them quarterly updates and offer a free telephone advice service that will ensure they are aware of current and pending changes in the law.
Peter Overton (Supply Chain Manager), of Cranberry Foods said "Working with EMS has been a productive partnership helping us to raise the awareness of our environmental responsibilities both internally within our business improving our own systems of work and externally with our Suppliers.
The business professionalism within both EMS and Cranberry Foods, a strong working relationship built through the proactive determination from the Board of Directors to the day to day Operation Teams, has shown that Businesses can achieve their planned improvement targets."
Rebecca Chapman of EMS commented "I'm pleased the partnership is working towards Cranberry Foods leading the way in best practice for colleagues and their ongoing development. They are committed to continual improvement and reduction of environmental risks".
