Alpheus to maintain high-tech E.ON plant

Alpheus Environmental has secured a contract to maintain the performance of E.ON's Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant at Ratcliffe Power Station. The system pre-treats river water prior to entry to the ion exchange plant, for use in the station's boilers. The RO plant enables a higher quality of water to be produced using a lower chemical input than had previously been possible. Maintenance cleaning, using a portable RO cleaning rig, will ensure continuous high performance and eliminate the risk of contamination build-up.

Based on a thin film composite membrane, RO units provided exceptional water filtration, removing almost all dissolved materials. With an effective pore size of less than 0.002?m, the system can be at risk of blockage from dirt, bacteria and other contaminants. Regular cleaning will play an essential preventative measure in the control of contamination.

Alpheus Environmental Ltd specialises in waste minimisation, water management and recycling. It is accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996.
