Greenredeem, stand no. R50
2 May 2012, News release from greenredeem
Greenredeem is an exciting new recycling initiative combining interactive 'reverse vending' kiosk technology with a web-based membership and reward scheme.
The scheme was developed specifically to address the UK's "on the go" recycling sector, targeting the huge volumes of drinks cans and bottles currently sent to landfill via public litter bins, or littering our roads, parks and footpaths. In the 2011 Waste Policy Review, Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman highlighted "Recycling on the Go" as a key component of the government's waste strategy.
Recycling at home is well established, but if people are unable to recycle when out & about it breaks the link in behaviors, thereby undermining the drive to a zero waste economy. Greenredeem reinforces existing behavior by making recycling 'on the go' as interactive & engaging as possible, and providing participants with the opportunity to earn rewards.
Once registered, a bar coded membership card gives users quick and easy access to the kiosks. Points are awarded for every qualifying container recycled, and automatically credited to the user's online account. By visiting www.greenredeem.co.uk users can check their points balance and redeem points against the rewards catalogue.
To ensure accessibility kiosks will be sited in public spaces such as amusement parks, college/university campuses, concert & exhibition venues, filling stations, shopping malls, sports arenas and bus stations.
Sponsorship of the kiosks is offered to companies and organisations wishing to raise their profile in the sustainability/corporate social responsibility arena.
