Finning to host dedicated CHP webinar for the Irish industry
21 January 2015, News release from Finning (UK) & Ireland Ltd - Power Systems
Finning UK & Ireland to host webinar on the benefits of combined heat and power (CHP) in Ireland, presented in conjunction with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
On January 27th 2014, Finning UK & Ireland (Finning) will be presenting an edie.net-hosted webinar on the benefits of CHP for applications in Ireland, detailing some typical industry examples and the positive financial savings and sustainability goals that can be achieved. The webinar will feature Ivan Sproule and Alan Ryan, both programme managers from the SEAI as guest speakers.
CHP is the simultaneous generation of usable heat and power (usually electricity) in a single process. With estimated cost savings of between 15% and 40% over electricity sourced from the grid and heat generated by on-site boilers, the benefits of using CHP to businesses is potentially huge.
The webinar will be presented by Martin Byrne and Nigel Thompson from Finning, Ireland's sole supplier of Caterpillar® engines and an expert provider of combined heat and power systems for over twenty years.
The webinar begins by introducing the concept of CHP and its applications in Ireland. Ivan Sproule, Business Programmes Manager and Alan Ryan, Public Sector Programme Manager from the SEAI will then provide an overview of the legislation and tax incentives available to businesses in Ireland that are considering investing in CHP.
These include the Accelerated Capital Allowance, Special Investigation Support for significant energy users and the SEAI National Energy Services' Framework, which is helping to develop the energy efficiency market in Ireland.
Finning will continue by exploring some practical ways of approaching a CHP scheme, factoring in any site limitations and business risks to create a viable and cost-effective installation with low cost of ownership.
The webinar will conclude by examining some of the key issues to consider when selecting a CHP provider that is capable of delivering both the necessary technology and can support the installation over its lifetime.
Commenting on the webinar, Nigel Thompson, Sales Manager for Gas Power Solutions at Finning said, "This webinar presents ideal opportunity for plant managers, building engineers, energy consultants and operators in Irish industry to learn more about the many benefits of CHP; ranging from manufacturing and processing industries to public sector infrastructure such as hospitals, leisure centres and municipal buildings to large corporate office sites.
"Not only do we have experts on hand to discuss how energy efficiency can be improved at a site, but we will also be entering into discussions on the direct financial benefits and tax incentives for businesses that invest in CHP.
"There is also a great opportunity for people viewing the webinar to ask questions, in order to a better understanding of the range of benefits that CHP can offer."
The webinar can be viewed on January 27th 2015 from 11:00-12:00 at edie.net, you can register now here.
