University of Haifa's Faculty of Management launch a new MBA program, the Global Green MBA

Taking advantage of Israel's vast experience with water management and renewable energy solutions, combined with its proven leadership in developing innovative and sustainable technologies, the University of Haifa's Faculty of Management launched a new MBA program, the Global Green MBA. This program will train the next generation of leaders in sustainable business management.

The Global Green MBA program, the first of its kind in Israel, launched its first cohort in October 2013 with students from Israel, Canada, USA and Russia. The 2014-2015 class will begin in the fall with students coming from Israel, Turkey, Italy, USA and Colombia.

The program is unique for its focus on the environmental, social and governance issues that are increasingly at the heart of business managers' responsibilities. Students can find this program fascinating as it blends the business world with environmental issues and risks that will contribute to their future careers.

Current student, Reut, who will be completing the program this summer, expressed her experience as being "great so far - we have small classrooms that allow for much more personal relationships not only with one another, but with the professors as well. This was more than I ever could have expected. The fact that every student comes from a different background, and also from different countries, brings many different aspects of business and environmental issues and concerns to the table. The emphasis here is truly international."

Students enrolled in the new MBA program are gaining the necessary tools for business management together with relevant sustainability topics, such as green accounting, green marketing and environmental finance. A mandatory field project offers students the opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the MBA curriculum to a real-world, business-related case study. "Students receive hands-on expertise and experiences by the combination of coursework, field trips and case study projects they work on" related Professor Ofira Ayalon when asked what was unique about this program in comparison to others around the world.

Dr. Andrea Ghermandi, Program Head, spoke about the program launch, explaining: "This innovative new program, which is unique in Israel, confirms the leadership role and commitment of the University of Haifa in advancing the public and scientific debate on sustainable development in Israel and internationally. We trust that it will contribute to train a new generation of responsible managers for successful careers in corporate positions, small businesses, environmental consulting posts, governmental agencies and NGOs."

The program is particularly appropriate for young graduates and previous business experience is an advantage but is not compulsory.
