Boom Drive

OPEC has just installed 380m of oil containment boom to collect floating golf balls on a lake.

The specially made golf balls used on water based driving ranges are a hit in the US but an unusual occurrence in the UK.

The lake is situated at the edge of the golf course in the North of England with an array of luxurious properties on the opposite side. Too many golf balls were lost with the previous method and it was decided to adapt the containment booms to drastically reduce the amount of balls that go astray.

Using a buoy anchor system the boom was deployed and shaped as a large arc to catch all balls including long drives and the occasional slice!
