De-Icing Plant Keeps Commuters On The Rails
20 January 2012, News release from Gee & Company
Preparing for the inevitable winter freeze is a major issue for train operators with stringent performance targets to keep the trains on time.
To ensure the services are maintained a substantial investment has been made in recent years to install de-icing plant.
Harmill Engineering and Gee & Co the Birmingham based engineering group have worked collaboratively to develop a packaged solution to meet the rail industries need.A critical part of the solution is the manufacture of De-Icing chemical make up systems, chemical storage tanks and associated control systems which can provide a packaged concept, with the flexibility to take account of local conditions including sites with limited space and difficult access.
Recent installations have included Polypropylene lined GRP laminate storage tanks and bunds from the Gee-Chemsafe range manufactured to BS 4994:1987 which included independent third party inspection and chemical tanks and bunds manufactured in Polypropylene to BS EN 12573 the standard for welded static non-pressurised tanks and bunds.
Bob Sleigh Gee & Co business development manager; " Working for the rail industry comes with a range of engineering challenges.Often we find ourselves having to build chemical plants in very constrained locations. The full design, build, installation and commissioning service provide in partnership with Harmill Engineering provides a single sourced solution to meet the industries need to keep the wheels moving even in the most difficult winter conditions"
