The Grit King® Process – Grit Removal System
The Grit King® separates, cleans, and dewaters grit from raw sewage and other liquids prior to delivering the classified grit to a skip ready for disposal. The Grit King® Process consists of a Grit King® Hydrodynamic Separator with backwashing system using air or water, a grit removal system (pump or gravity), a Grit Cleanse™ or Grit Classifier and all connecting pipework. The Grit King® Separator requires no external power source, as it uses the inherent energy of the influent with a headloss of typically less than 150 mm. Performance comparisons have shown the Grit King® Process to be up to 15 times as effective as conventional grit removal technologies. The Grit-Cleanse™ - Grit Classification System
The Grit-Cleanse™ is an enhanced grit classifier to separate the grit and organics from water to reduce faecal matter in locations where turndown ratios are high (typically > 6:1) when used with a Grit King® Separator. The enhanced performance of the Grit-Cleanse™ relies on the use of a ‘mini’ dynamic separator located over the hopper. The Grit-Cleanse™ is fed at a flow rate of 20 l/s from the Grit King® Separator. The selection of a Series 3 Classifier or a Grit-Cleanse™ is dependent upon the performance requirement for faecal organics in the discharged grit and the ratio of peak flow to dry weather flow at the site. The units are normally used as part of the Grit King® Process. However, they can also be used as a stand-alone unit on small Sewage Treatment Works.

Primary Treatment
Lamella Plate Clarifier
The Lamella separator is the world leader in sedimentation technology. Lamella Separators can reduce space requirements by up to 90% compared with a settling pond. With this system every square metre of floor or ground area provides up to 10 m2 of settling area. The separator incorporates a patented flow control system, a breakthrough in modern plate separator design. The Zickert Z2000 is a bottom scraper specially designed for continuous transportation of sludge. Z2000s are low profile, enabling sedimentation tanks to be covered for odour control. The design of the Z2000 is straightforward, allowing it to be easily installed into various types of sedimentation systems. Scum Removal

Zickert Reciprocating Skimmer – Z3900 Surface Scum Skimmer

The Zickert Z3900 scum skimmer is designed for efficient removal of surface scum with a minimum of transportation water. It is suitable for use in most applications in which surface scum occurs, including both local authority wastewater treatment installations and industrial process wastewater treatment systems. The Z3900 is characterized by its step by step movement. The drive bar moves forward and returns. The blade is fastened to a slide bar that is moved forward stage by stage by the drive bar. A system of levers on the slide changes its direction of movement when it reaches its end position. This means that it is possible to install several blades in series in one tank, the scum being passed from one blade to the next on its way to the scum pipe. Zickert Z6300 – Rotating Scum Pipe

The Z3900 scum pipe is automatically angled or rotated to the extent required to receive the scum decanted by the surface scraper. Its movement can be controlled by a water level gauge in the tank itself. The Z6300 is best suited for use with scum with low total solids content. With stable water levels it is possible to minimize the amount of water removed with the scum. The scum pipe can be powered electrically, hydraulically, or operated with a manual lever. Installation is straightforward, and special embedment fittings are available to secure it to the wall of the tank.


Zickert Z6500 – Fixed Scum Pipe

The Z6500 is a fixed scum pipe with an adjustable forward edge or ‘tip’. When the tip is folded down inside the pipe, scum passes into the pipe over the lip. The angled bottom of the Z6500 results in a high capacity, and is particularly suitable for applications where scum has higher total solids content. The Z6500 can be powered electrically, hydraulically, or may be operated by a manual lever. It can be fitted close in to the end of the tank. Installation is straightforward, a single working day is normally sufficient.

Zickert Z6900 – Scum Beach

The Z6900 scum beach can be fitted in either a concrete or a sheet steel scum pipe on a permanent basis. It is best suited for use with sludge with high total solids content. It is usually used in flotation applications.



Secondary Treatment
The HiOx™ produces 1 mm diameter ultra-fine bubbles which decreases the electrical consumption of the system. 5-10 mm bubbles are found in many coarse bubble aeration systems, while 2-3 mm bubbles are found in many fine bubble aeration systems. Each panel diffuser covers a large area, roughly equivalent to 4.3 m2. These specially developed, lightweight panels are covered in high strength perforated polyurethane. Tertiary Treatment
DynaDisc™ Filter
The DynaDisc™ is a microscreen consisting of a multiple disc filter system. The reliability of the DynaDisc™ seals and durability of the filter fabrics allows the system to be used in a wide range of applications.  The disc filter consists of a number of discs attached to a central drum shaft, the water percolates through the cloth, trapping the solids inside the disc.  The disc is then rotated and washed to remove the solids build-up.  The DynaDisc™ is available as a freestanding tank or for installation into a concrete tank.  For more information…

DynaSand® Filter
Filtration through a bed of sand is a cost-effective way of removing suspended solids and other impurities in water treatment and wastewater purification. DynaSand® is a continuously operating sand filter. The sand is cleaned by means of an internal washing system, eliminating the need for wash water storage tanks, backwash pumps and collecting tanks. DynaOxy - Tertiary / Nitrification
The DynaOxy is a space saving combined nitrification and filtration process with a high reaction rate and tolerant of load surges. The water which is to be nitrified is admitted into the DynaOxy filter through an inlet distributor. As the water flows upwards through the filter bed, ammonia is converted into nitrates by bacteria. The autotrophic nitrifying bacteria grow as an attached growth biomass on the media within the filter. DynaDeni – Denitrification
The DynaDeni is a space saving denitrification process with a high reaction rate and tolerant of load surges. The water to be denitrified is admitted into the DynaDeni filter through the inlet distributor. As the water flows upwards through the filter bed, nitrite and nitrate are converted into nitrogen gas by the attached growth heterotrophic biomass. The nitrogen gas is discharged to the atmosphere at the surface of the filter, and the solids generated are captured within the bed and then removed by the integral washing system. CSO Treatment
Hydro-Static® Screen – High Capacity Wet Weather Screen
A cost-effective, non-powered screen for the control of gross solids and floatables in combined sewer systems. Designed to complement Hydro International’s wide range of CSO Screening products, the Hydro-Static® Screen provides screening better than 6 mm in two directions. The Hydro-Static® Screen intercepts and retains floatables, aesthetically offensive material and gross solids over a wide range of flows. The collected material is then returned to the combined sewer after the storm event. An emergency overflow weir is incorporated into the screen should the peak design flow be exceeded. The Hydro-Static® Screen is available as either an Up Flow Screen or a weir-mounted Through Flow Screen.
