Reaping the benefits of the Pre-fabricated Inlet Works

Many Water plcs are choosing to take advantage Haigh's pre-fabricated 'Plug and Play' ACE Inlet works.

Speaking of a recent project undertaken, Haigh's Jason Powell said "This particular customer's site turned out to be ideal for the model 1500 ACE Inlet, as the existing system was failing consent due to increased flows and low screenings capture rate. It was also deemed a 'Growth Scheme' which was seen as a critical site on compliance. Due to this, the customer's Capital Investment Group challenged the project team to deliver the scheme as early as possible, and this is where we were able to partner with them to find the best solution."

He continues "Clear advocates of pre-fabrication as a project solution, the customer demonstrated their commitment to sustainable construction solutions with this and other application types."
The site had a restricted working window for construction due to the area surrounding the site being of Special Scientific Interest and home to a number of protected bird species. Construction activities are also limited within the site boundary to avoid an Environmental Impact Assessment.

Built at Haigh's Ross on Wye Headquarters, the ACE Inlet was delivered fully assembled, including all pipework, electrical cabling, controls and flood lighting. Furthermore, the customer was able to undertake a full Factory Acceptance Test prior to the unit arriving on site, in turn keeping all impacts to a minimum. From point of order to delivery, the process took just 17 weeks, and once a flat concrete plinth was in place, Haigh were able to fully install within 48 hours.

As a growth scheme, the 1500 ACE Inlet will also allow the customer to increase the capacity of the unit using the built in standby channel to fit additional equipment at a later date. This can be done without the need for additional civils, and will minimise the time and construction work that will be required on site. This in turn will significantly reduce any environmental impacts on the surrounding area of Special Scientific Interest and the protected birds which live there.

This latest site announcement builds on installations with other water PLC's.
