Saving energy in the fast lane

A car that can do 0 - 60 in 2.7 seconds, reach speeds of 178mph, all while offsetting its carbon emissions sounds too good to be true.

However, iVolt, sponsor of the Radical SR8 RX racing team, which is currently competing in the Radical UK Cup and Radical Masters Championship,  has worked with Carbon Footprinting Ltd to develop pioneering technology that can do just that. Built into the cars engines the iVolt technology helps offset carbon emissions by using intelligent monitoring and constantly adjusting the voltage.

Show casing at the Energy Solution Expo 2011, iVolt claims its technology saves 30% more energy than other fixed voltage reduction products, maximises energy and cost savings and maintains continuity of supply, along with other benefits.

Whether or not this is the case it is certainly a cool looking car.
