Last chance to register for free energy efficiency webinar

Hi Malcolm, Yes, this webinar will be available ''on-demand'' after it has aired live tomorrow afternoon. Keep an eye on the list here - www.edie.net/webinar. Thanks, Luke

Last chance to register for free energy efficiency webinar

I have a meeting all afternoon on 22 Sept. Is it possible to watch this webinar at another time?

Britain is ready for the green bus transition, says Volvo Buses

Philip, the cuts are not caused by bus manufacturers but by the politicians holding the purse-strings. As air quality is less of an issue outside our towns, a hybrid bus is what you need for inter-urban services.

Britain is ready for the green bus transition, says Volvo Buses

How welcome this must be, especially for city dwellers, but what is Volvo proposing for the (at least) 25% British people living outside the cities, & who are seeing already at best sparse bus services cut even further?!

Britain is ready for the green bus transition, says Volvo Buses

We may be ready for a transition; what we are certainly not ready for is Volvo''s awful B5LH platform [pictured above]. It uses an automated manual box rather than a full automatic. These are just about acceptable in a coach, but in a city bus they are far too jerky and result in huge losses of power during glacially slow gear changes - on a rising grade the bus almost comes to a standstill between first and second gears. Not only this but the four-pot engine is nasty, loud and harsh. The noisy, jerky ride is closer to a Leyland Fleetline of the 1970s than a smooth modern vehicle. Quite how this is suppposed to attract and passengers is beyond me.

Report: Energy sector experiencing 'negative impacts' of Brexit vote

Surely a rise in energy prices would be a good thing for businesses involved in energy efficiency as it would motivate people to purchase their products or services in order to save money on energy bills in the longer term. Or is that just too blooming obvious?
