Environmental Compliance Officer

Carnival UK is looking to appoint an Environmental Compliance Officer to work onboard their fleet of luxury cruise ships. The Environmental Compliance Officer will ensure environmental compliance by providing oversight and assistance to shipboard personnel in complying with National and International laws and regulations.
Drawing on your previous environmental management experience, your challenge will be to ensure ongoing compliance of one of our modern cruise ships. An integral part of your role will be to educate and influence all members of crew, including the senior management team, to the importance of complying with environmental legislation and highlighting its benefits. You’ll also help to plan, implement, monitor and review both protective and preventative measures – making Carnival UK the market leader when it comes to environmental compliance.
Ideally you will have an environmental or engineering background with the relevant qualifications, preferably within the maritime sector. As a self starter, with management experience and a hands on approach you will have proven ability to take ownership of any issues that arise. You will have excellent communication skills along with a proactive and positive approach to protecting the environment.

Key SkillsTo be successful, you will have:
An Engineering background, Deck Officer license, Engine Officer license and/or an Environmental/science-based degree
Proven experience of a proactive and positive approach to protecting the environment and assuring compliance with the environmental management system
Work to a high level of accuracy and enjoy a "hands on" approach together with the ability to take ownership of any issues that may arise
Excellent communication, management and organisation skills
