AMEC snaps up Entec in Vision strategy

Engineering and and project management company AMEC has bought environmental and engineering consultancy Entec Holdings from its owner-managers and investors, Growth Capital Partners, for an initial cash consideration of £61.2M.

Entec provides a wide range of skills in depth to a long-standing public and private sector customer base.
The acquisition strengthens AMEC's relationships with existing customers, as well as provides access to new ones.
Based in Newcastle and with 14 offices across the UK, Entec has developed leading positions in the water, solid waste, energy and infrastructure development sectors. It brings together planning, design, environmental science and engineering to deliver projects as diverse as climate change policy making, flood risk management, wind farm development, nuclear waste management, water treatment and environmental planning.
Customers include Northumbrian Water and the Environment Agency.
The acquisition is part of AMEC's Vision 2015 strategy, which focuses the business on assured growth through a strengthened geographic footprint and enhanced capabilities in key sectors. It also complements AMEC's existing environmental business.
Roger Jinks, president of AMEC's Earth & Environmental division, said: "Acquiring Entec Holdings Ltd is another important step in our strategy of enhancing our water
and environmental consulting capabilities internationally."
Simon Armes-Reardon, Entec's managing director, said: "This acquisition is very important for our continued growth; clients are increasingly looking to work with companies that deliver a greater depth of services and we look forward to our continued development within AMEC."
