Azura compacts sweep Swindon

Swindon Services, which is responsible for keeping the town's street and pedestrian areas clean and tidy, as part of its planned equipment replacement programme has recently acquired three Azura sweepers.

Supplier Euromec states that the Azura is a highly effective compact sweeper because it is manoeuvrable and has a very efficient sweeping system. It is compact - 3,780mm long, 1,230mm wide and 2,000mm high, but with two front-mounted side brushes it has a sweeping width of 2,100mm. A high performance suction system - with a capacity of 1,300m3 of air per hour collects litter, dust and debris in a large, 2m3 hopper.

Power assisted four-wheel steering means Azura has a 2.5metre turning circle, which ensures manoeuvrability in the most confined of spaces. It performs equally well in pedestrian precincts and on open streets and pavements.

The sweeper is also equipped with high and low pressure hydraulic water pumps. Together with front-mounted spray nozzles, this gives the driver control over the flow and direction of the water sprays to optimise sweeping performance and dust suppression.

A fully glazed driver compartment provides excellent all round visibility and ensures a pleasing operating environment for the driver. All controls are ergonomically laid out and adjustable, in a similar fashion to a car. The Azura also has a climate conditioning system, which means that regardless of outside temperature, the driver will be comfortable and alert.

The new sweepers are used in a variety of different locations: one is deployed in the town centre shopping precincts and pedestrian zones. The other two are used in outlying areas on housing estates, roads and cycle paths. This flexibility was another key factor in the purchasing decision.

"The Azura can go anywhere." Comments Rob Core Rob Core, Swindon's street cleaning contracts manager. "It has an excellent sweeping and vacuum system and can pick up almost everything. The large hopper capacity means it can stay out for long periods before it needs emptying."
