Demand grows for waste weighing equipment in Ireland

The growing market for weighing equipment, including on-board equipment, spurred by the new legislation in Ireland requiring payment by weight or by use for waste, was reflected in the presence of leading weighing specialists at IRWM 2004, held in Dublin in November last year.

A notable Ireland-based exhibitor was Globeweigh Ltd, based in Co Armagh, which was recently awarded contracts by Cork City Council to equip the Clonakilty Transfer Station and Mills Street Amenity Site.

Globeweigh is supplying the 18-metre and 15-metre weighbridges, platform scales, printers and software for the sites.

At the Dublin show the company demonstrated a wide range of its products, including weighbridge indicators, driver operated panels and its own in-house software. IRWM 2004 saw the launch of the latest version of Globeweigh’s Aweighsys Transfer Station Package.

This software system includes weighing, recording, printing and report features, and can be used to control banners, traffic lights and driver operated panels.
With Ireland facing high landfill charges and a drive to recycle, Globeweigh offers full traceability and weight reports for customers, to meet the accelerating demands of the industry.

In addition to serving the waste and recycling industry, the company can supply equipment to weigh small items, using a laboratory balance, right through to a platform scale or road weighbridge.

Globeweigh also supplies a wide range of standard weighing equipment, from laboratory balances to heavy duty solutions.

The company’s Aweighsys Software Systems are written in-house and are available in several dedicated versions for industries such as waste, kerbside collection, skip, landfill, amenity site (including credit payment control), recycling, quarry, timber and animal feed. There is also a general version for implementation in any industry.

A full range of axle weighers is also available from Globeweigh which is the Irish distributor for Central Weighing.

Service is available from centres in Armagh and Nenagh. The company services all types of weighbridge and stocks spare parts, including load cells. A wide range of other weighing equipment labellers and wrappers is also maintained.
