Payload increased with lightweight vacuum tanker
Yorkshire Water, part of the Kelda Group plc, and one of the ten largest water management businesses in the world, has taken delivery of four newly developed WhaleVac tankers, each with the capacity to hold up to 26,500 litres, for transporting sewage sludge to and from treatment works.
"In matters of payload and reliability the Whale StepVac - our first frameless tanker, with a unique stepped barrel design and pumping equipment concealed in an acoustic chamber at the front of the barrel - excels. However, it is also the 'Rolls Royce' equivalent and its high specification and long list of features - desirable though they may be - are inevitably reflected in the purchase price.
"There is also a market demand for a high capacity, lightweight vacuum tanker with fittings appropriate for the carriage of non-hazardous sludges, to serve the same purpose as the StepVac, but with fewer features and, therefore, a lower price tag."
