Trio launches innovative kerbside recycler

Star of the Trio Group stand at CIWM Torbay last month was the new X-5 Stillage Kerbside Recycling Vehicle billed as the company's "revolutionary new replacement for the traditional cage vehicle."

Trio says this of the first of several ground-breaking concepts for the recycling market which are coming soon.

Built at the group’s Gloucester factory, the vehicle spec is: chassis 7.7 – 15t VGW, with wheelbase from 3.8 to 4.8 metres. The X5 7.5t version has a 10m3 capacity and the X5 XL features a 13m3 capacity.

The standard vehicle offers a non HGV option. Operatives do not travel within the body

Developed specifically to meet the challenges facing local authorities the first of the new X5 vehicles has been delivered to Cheltenham Borough Council.

The compartmentalised stillage employs clip-on troughs, allowing colour co-ordination of stillages and the use of troughs by commodity.

There is no manual handling with this trough fed system, providing fast sort and load.

Trio also points out that there are no headroom restrictions and all body space is utilised.

There is also an option for fork truck discharge and reload with a “off load and go” facility. The vehicle can be reloaded with empty stillages and put back tom work.

Trailer load is another option and chassis body is reusable. Trio adds that there is retrofit potential.

Other Trio products for the

waste disposal and recycling industry include Mactipper, Kerbside Kollector, Macpac

and Supahook.
