A&R Vehicle Services and E&S Environmental are delighted to announce a new combined tank testing services capability which cuts down vehicle downtime by up to two thirds!

Under the current DfT legislation, from mid next year, any tank constructed in accordance with ADR (including those so constructed before 10th May 2004 when there was no requirement to do so) will become subject to the ADR in-service inspection and test regime, which includes routine hydraulic testing every six years.

In order to comply with this change in legislation and provide the required cover for testing under the new requirements, A&R Vehicle Services of Wednesbury have invested £70,000 in a purpose built testing bay.

Working closely with E&S Environmental Services as the UKAS accredited inspection body, A&R can now provide a fully covered and metered Hydraulic testing facility at their site on Darlaston Road, Wednesbury.

The combined service capability means that E&S can undertake a fully independent test as a UKAS accredited company to ISO 17020 (No. 311) and licensed by the DfT as a Type A Inspection Body at A&R's new bespoke, all weather premises in the Midlands.

Turnaround is just one day, fully tested! This One-Stop-Shop service can be achieved in just 24 hours whilst many other facilities need up to 3-days. This means that any fleet in the UK can now take advantage of the service, and still benefit from much reduced vehicle off road time.

One of the most significant advantages is A&R's investment in pumping equipment. A&R have high volume pumps that fill all compartments in just over an hour versus a full day as standard. "This is the sort of customer service our customers now want" commented George Simpson, Group Managing Director of A&R Vehicle Services.

Should a tank fail, their extensive range of tank parts and experienced engineers offer a full repair service on the day of the test avoiding the need for re-test fees or taking the tank to an alternative location.

George added "It helps Operations Managers meet stringent KPI's by limiting lost service drops and getting vehicles back to work. And with our large inventory of spare parts it helps guarantee immediate repair, when necessary."

"This is a significant investment in A&R's Tanker repair department and offers the customer, the opportunity to have the tank repaired and returned to service in a timely manner," says company chairman, Trevor Rushworth.

The new construction negates the need for degassing the tank as they don't need to enter the normal workshop for testing. Also, the new facility is equipped with a fall arrest system and an air supply to carry out rectification if required.

Andrew Clarke, Managing Director of E&S Environmental says "This is a tremendous opportunity for E&S and we're pleased to be working with such a professional and forward-thinking company as A&R Vehicle Services."
