Businesses get green advice
Advice for businesses on reducing waste, water conservation and energy efficiency is being offered by a new service.
Dr Gerry Byrne, EPA chairperson of the National Waste Prevention Committee told Galway First, "Businesses will benefit from using greenbusiness.ie by making cash savings through decreased waste handling and disposal charges, reduced energy and water bills and more effective use of raw materials.
"Over time, businesses will be able to track for themselves their improvements and benchmark themselves against other businesses or similar organisations."
The service offers electronic tools and case studies for improving business environmental efficiency as well as one to one advice through a telephone helpline and on-site visits.
According to greenbusiness.ie, water wastage can cost up to one per cent of a business' total turnover.
The site also claims to be able to help small and medium- sized businesses, public bodies and other organisations save up to €1,200 per employee through resource efficiency.
