Enviros, part of the Sinclair Knight Merz group, has appointed two new Technical Directors.

Dr Phil Aldous and Paul Akehurst join the Enviros London office to strengthen Enviros’ water and climate change offerings.

Paul Akehurst joins Enviros as a Technical Director in the Climate Change and Renewables team. Paul will support the continued growth in carbon management and will be responsible for developing services associated with the development of sustainable energy systems.

Paul has a background in research and development and 23 years’ experience in the fields of energy and climate change. He specialises in carbon management and brings considerable experience in the development of carbon management strategies for both private and public sector organisations.

Paul joins Enviros from Entec UK where he held the position of Associate Director and lead the energy consulting team, working closely with clients such as the Carbon Trust on a range of services, including the carbon management, applied research and low carbon buildings programmes.

Phil Aldous joins Enviros in the role of Water Director to develop and build on Enviros’ existing presence in the UK water consultancy market and to lead the water and hydrology team based in London.

Phil has over 25 years’ experience of the UK water industry, working initially with the Water Research Centre (WRc), followed by 20 years at Thames Water. During his last three years at Thames Water, Phil was Head of Environment and Quality Regulation, where he ensured the business was prepared to meet future regulatory changes, and managed the current regulatory reporting requirements, and relationships with the Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate.

Phil has a Bachelors degree from the University of East Anglia Environmental Science School, a Doctorate in Hydrogeology from Bristol University and more recently a Masters in Environmental Law from Leicester University.

Nigel Clark, Enviros Regional Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul and Phil who both bring a wealth of experience and technical knowledge to our existing teams. Their appointment will enable us to further develop our award winning water and climate change consultancy services.”
