Free tool will help businesses thrive sustainably

A tailor made service for small and medium sized businesses has been launched in London to help smaller companies find more sustainable business solutions.

As part of an initiative between the Mayor's Green Procurement Code, London Remade and Envirowise, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can receive help in procuring recycled products, minimising waste, optimising water efficiency, and other aspects of business resource efficiency.

Moreover, the brokerage service is confidential and completely free of charge.

It will offer London-based businesses advice on how to use sustainability to increase competitiveness in the marketplace while cutting down costs as well. Other special advantages for SMEs include a free helpline and free publications, as well as fast-track site visits that have been designed specifically for smaller enterprises.

Tim Perfrement, the market development manager at London Remade, said this new development to increase resource efficiency was sure to be another key success for the Mayor's code.

"Over the last three years we have seen the number of signatories reach over 300, our team more than double in size and a vastly improved offering in terms of developing greater office sustainability," he stated.

London's Envirowise agent, Emma Burlow said she was confident that the free service would become an invaluable tool for many SMEs around London.

"Working with London Remade has allowed me to offer signatories additional services around waste minimisation which will help them achieve their wider environmental objectives and save money," Ms Burlow said.

The Mayor's Green Procurement Code was originally launched in 2001 to address the landfill problems that were facing the capital.
