Professor Peter Matthews, who will be the new body's chairman, says:
"Wales is thrusting ahead with some innovative approaches to ecosystems management and this includes new ideas in legislation and the creation of Natural Resources Wales. I am very proud to be part of this process."
This conference is intended to consider how environmental issues should be tackled in future in Wales, and Prof. Matthews will give the keynote speech. He explains that:
"the new Body of Natural Resources Wales will make the ideas of integrated natural resources management work in practice and our intention is to create a greener , wiser , wealthier , healthier Wales."
Subsequent speakers at the conference will give their views on how environmental policies should be developed, and time has been set aside for discussion sessions to enable contributions to be given from the floor.
