Renewable energy sector jobs growing

The renewable energy sector is one of the growth sectors in Ireland and it is bringing with it a whole new range of jobs.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Ross Griffin, business manager at specialist recruitment firm Hays Energy, said the energy industry was rapidly growing.

He told the newspaper: “We can see the incredible employment potential in the energy industry and are confident we can successfully fill many jobs in this business.

“At the present we aren’t experiencing a detrimental shortage of skilled workers.

“However, looking at the future expansion of the industry, paired with government investment, Ireland undoubtedly needs an increase of skilled graduates to realise the industry’s full potential.”

Hays Energy is a new division of Hays Specialist Recruitment. Its development has been prompted by the growth in the energy and renewable energy industries.

Renewable energy is set to continue growing as European nations comply with targets.

The EU has set a 20% cut in carbon emissions by 2020, a target which will require a move away from burning fossil fuels and on to more sustainable energy sources.
