The Green Party’s Caroline Lucas was in good company with HRH Prince of Wales and Sir David Attenborough also being nominated for the award.

In the 2010 general elections, Caroline Lucas was voted in as MP for Brighton Pavilion.

Caroline has a significant track record in green politics. She joined the Green Party in 1986 and has held many positions including National Press Officer (1987-89) and Co-Chair (1989-90). She was elected as one of the Green Party’s first MEPs in June 1999 to represent the South East of England region and 2008 she was elected Green Party Leader.

Caroline is an acknowledged expert on climate change, and has been active in the Campaign Against Climate Change Environmental Protection UK (formerly National Society for Clean Air).

The Green Personality of the Year Award joins her other accolades including being voted Ethical Politician of the Year by Observer readers in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

She has also received the Michael Kay Award from the RSPCA in 2006 for her outstanding contribution to European animal welfare and BBC Wildlife listed Caroline in their ‘Top 50 Conservationists’.
