Geneva showcases green future

The Geneva car show opens today (March 3) with a focus on green cars with more than 40 premieres utilising alternative and ecological technologies.


The Green Pavillion will hold over 20 stands entirely dedicated to future technologies for green cars.

Visitors will be able to try out the green vehicles with green test drives on offer with 20 electric cars from 10 different brands to choose from.

Among some of the exhibits are the ‘ebike’ an electric bicycle that delivers power when the rider pedals.

The iEV1 – iEV Aryana 800, an Intelligent Electric Fuel Cell Vehicle (IEFCV )which uses a battery for traction. The battery can be charged 50% fully automatically in six minutes and the hydrogen tank can be 100% refuel in that same time in a charging station. The IEFCV also has an on board charger.

The SynergEthic – Tilter is a 100% electric vehical, which is smaller than a large motorcycle with two seats and three wheels.

The big names are there too with BMW, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Renault, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz among many showcasing their electric and environmentally friendly vehicles.

The show runs from March 3 – 13 in Geneva, Switzerland.
