Awards to celebrate water industry’s star acts

The successes of the UK water industry's top companies and individuals over a challenging year will be celebrated in the 2007 Water Industry Achievement Awards, now open for entries.

The awards are designed to highlight the water industry’s top achievements, ranging from visionary sustainable development initiatives and the innovative use of technology to effective partnerships, inspirational people and outstanding communications.

The organisers, leading independent media company Faversham House Group (FHG) behind the Sustainabilitylive! event, are also looking for individual nominations for the Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry award.

“2006 has been a tough year for the water industry, for reasons we are all familiar with, but there’s been a lot of good work going on behind the scenes,” said Angela Himus, publisher of Water & Waste Treatment (WWT) and WET News (WN), the magazines behind the awards.

“So what better way to recognise, reward and celebrate some of the industry’s most outstanding achievements over the past 12 months?”

Entries are invited from water companies, water authorities and their suppliers, including consultancies, civil and process engineering contractors, equipment and technology manufacturers, service providers and research establishments.

FHG has inaugurated six awards to highlight success in the following key areas:

– Partnership Initiative of the Year

– People Initiative of the Year

– Best Information & Communication Campaign

– Sustainable Development Award

– Innovative Technology Award

– Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry

The awards will be showcased and presented at the International Water & Effluent Exhibition (IWEX), one of the events within Sustainabilitylive! – the UK’s most comprehensive forum for excellence and innovation in the water, environment, land remediation and energy sectors.

The awards presentation itself will take place at a celebration dinner at the International Conference Centre, Birmingham, on the evening of May 2nd 2007.

Closing date for entries is 16 February 2007.
