Sewer flooding guide published

A new guide to help water and sewerage customers respond to sewer flooding incidents on their property has been published by consumer group WaterVoice.

The guide explains what help customers should be able to get from local sewerage companies and includes information on what to do if your property is flooded; why sewer flooding happens and who is responsible for the sewerage system.

It can also help determine whether your property is at risk of sewer flooding.

Catherine Harvey, Chairman of WaterVoice’s Standards of Service Group said: “Sewer flooding is a deeply distressing occurrence and represents both a personal and environmental blight. We want customers to know what they can do if they suffer such flooding, and what they should expect from organisations responsible for tackling it.”

She added that the guide – Sewer Flooding – Your Questions Answered – should help stimulate examination of service standards across the water and sewerage industry.

More details are available at WaterVoice Website.
