UK to fund Ukrainian nuclear waste store

The British government has agreed to pay for a secure storage facility to house radioactive waste from across the Ukraine.

The facility will cost £2.1m to build and will be located inside the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

The funding comes from the UK's global Threat Reduction Programme which aims to remove the potentiail danger nuclear and biological agents could pose to human health or the environment as well as eliminating the threat of illegal trafficking.
