Award-winning company wins metering contract

Elster (NYSE: ELT) has won a contract with Wessex Water, Bristol Water and Sembcorp Bournemouth Water to provide the companies with up to 150,000 polymer water meters.

Elster’s V210 volumetric polymer water meter won a Product Innovation Award in the European Utility Awards.

The meter has a long-life and high accuracy over a wide operating range. The polymer body has approximately one-third the carbon footprint of its brass body counterparts.

The product forms an integral part of Elster’s advanced metering system and has been approved to the latest European Directive (2004/22/EC) and associated European and international standards.

Elster says the polymer meter is the first water meter to achieve compliance with the UK Water Industry Specification 4-32-19.

This makes it suitable for all installations, including land which may be contaminated or at risk of future contamination.

Bristol Water procurement contracts manager, Lee Tanner, said: “Wessex Water, Bristol Water and Sembcorp Bournemouth Water have awarded the contract for domestic and small commercial water meters to Elster after they achieved the highest score against our evaluation criteria.

“We look forward to the imminent installation of these innovative polymer meters from Elster.”
