B & V Water named as one of Britain's top 1,000 'Brightest Businesses'

B & V Water Treatment has received high praise from the Daily Telegraph, which named it one of the UK's top 1,000 brightest businesses in its latest report - the only water company to make the grade.

The list was compiled by innovation agency NESTA and business information specialist Dun & Bradstreet to recognise companies which have weathered the "economic storm and are set to be the foundation of the UK's recovery".

B & V, which trades under the name Global Chemical Technologies, has carried out a number of ground-breaking research projects into issues such as water scarcity, treatment and portability, along with a top secret project with Apprentice winner Tom Pellereau into legionella control and treatment.

As part of its research, The Telegraph surveyed more than 12 membership organisations such as Institution of Chemical Engineers, the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Institute of Physics and the Royal Academy of Engineering, while also taking nominations from readers.

The result is a list of British businesses that have collectively produced more than £50bn in sales and increased employment between 2009 and 2011. In the list annual sales were shown to range between £5m to £50m, with B & V last year reporting a turnover of almost £7m.

B & V managing director Simon Ward said: "We've nearly doubled our workforce in the past four years and are on target to increase year on year profits by 12% this year.

"We are fairly unique within the industry for our consistent R and D to ensure we develop new products and services with a focus on technology and environmental impacts. Our investment in technical support for our UK and international customers has paid dividends."

B & V has recently opened a new factory which is expected to increase its manufacturing and operational capacity by more than 40%.
