Conference maps UK water policy

Following two highly successful water conferences in 2009 and 2010, Future Water returns on 13 July 2011. The one-day national policy conference will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London, and will bring together policy makers, industry leaders and stakeholders to map solutions for the challenges facing the water sector.

The conference will be one of the few events to bring together political decision makers with industry experts ahead of the government’s forthcoming Water White Paper.

Water minister Richard Benyon MP will deliver the keynote conference speech and will lay out the government’s vision for water policy reform.

The conference will bring together all the leading figures from across the water sector to listen, discuss and offer insight into the debate surrounding the White Paper reforms and beyond. Speakers include Paul Leinster, CEO of the Environment Agency; Anne McIntosh MP, Chair of the EFRA Select Committee and Colin Kelly, Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, the utility sector’s largest employer.

In addition, Helen Phillips, CEO Natural England; Tony Smith, CEO CCWater; and Pamela Taylor, CEO Water UK will debate what it will take to make the White Paper work on the ground, while Richard Flint, CEO of Yorkshire Water will deliver his view from the frontline.

The White Paper, due in December, is likely to be the single biggest event to shape the water sector in 2011, with commentators speculating that it will have a significance equal to the original legislation which privatised the industry over 20 years ago.

Future Water is set to bring together senior representatives from across the industry, Government and stakeholders to listen and share their unique perspectives on the White Paper and analysis of the challenges it presents. Final spaces are still available.
