MOD water consumption reduced 11 years early

A water company which delivers water and wastewater services to Ministry of Defence sites has achieved water consumption reduction targets 11 years ahead of schedule.

Aquatrine Supplier Association works with the MOD in England, Scotland and Wales and reached the government sustainability targets just five years after the targets were set.

The company used some of the latest techniques and technologies in leakage detection and repair across the Defence estate, and delivered savings equivalent to 10 Olympic-sized swimming pools every day.

Defence Estates (DE) Aquatrine sustainability manager Chris Boulton said:”Defence Estates’ priority is to support our Armed Forces and their families.

“The Aquatrine partnership helps us to provide water services needed across the military estate, whilst helping to safeguard our environment and provide value for money.

“Improved management of leakage on the MOD estate represents a clear demonstration of the success of the Aquatrine Project agreements.”

The Aquatrine partnership has now been shortlisted for a national utility industry award for supply chain excellence.
