Waterwise teams up with edie awards

Water efficiency charity WaterWise has joined up with edie to promote the 2010 Awards for Environmental Excellence.

Waterwise is an NGO focused on decreasing water consumption in the UK and building the evidence base for large-scale water efficiency.

As a leading authority on water efficiency in the UK, the organisation was happy to team up to promote edie’s water award which sets out to highlight projects which push forward the sustainability agenda when it comes to water use.

Chris Philpot, Waterwise, said: “awards like this are valuable because they give due credit to those who are pushing the boundaries within the water sector.

“Anything that encourages a more sustainable approach to water use has got to be a good thing.”

Sam Bond, edie’s editor said: “it’s great to have Waterwise on board. Every day, they’re working on the front lines in the battle to persuade people to use resources more efficiently and that’s exactly the kind of thing we want to hear about from our potential winners.

“We’re hoping that our partnership with Waterwise can help us raise awareness of these awards to ensure we reach the widest audience and encourage the best possible calibre of entries and make sure the award goes to those who deserve it the most.”

Now in their fourth year, the Awards for Environmental Excellence are RSA accredited, making them one of just a handful of feeder schemes for the European Business Awards for the Environment”.

Winners are entitled to be considered to represent the UK in the pan-European awards.

Entering the awards could not be easier – those who believe they have a project that shows innovation, goes beyond simple good practice and meets our criteria need only write a brief case study and provide us with their contact details.

The Awards for Environmental Excellence are now in their fourth year and entries must be received by the closing date of May 26.

The best of these will be shortlisted for consideration by our expert panel of judges.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at London’s prestigious Hurlingham Club, London in November.

The awards are sponsored by powerPerfector.

Waterwise is an independent, not for profit organisation that receives funding from the UK water industry and from sponsorship and consultancy work.

In England, it sat on the Environment Minister’s Water Saving Group alongside the water industry and regulators. Waterwise also set up the Saving Water in Scotland Network.
