4R Group boosts waste capabilities with MWH ByProduct purchase

4R Group has increased its recycling capacity for liquid and solid industrial wastes with the acquisition of MWH ByProduct from MWH.

The MWH ByProduct business, based in Heywood, Lancashire, will trade as ByProduct Recovery, as part of 4R Group. ByProduct Recovery's expertise is in handling liquid and solid industrial wastes to provide feedstock for manufacturing agricultural products, such as fertiliser replacements.

Incorporating ByProduct Recovery into 4R Group will also bring forward additional investment in plant and equipment, reduce overhead costs across the businesses and ensure broader geographic coverage for 4R Group in North West England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

4R Group's managing director, Mike Holt, said: "We see a bright future for ByProduct Recovery. The emerging green economy can definitely play a large part in supporting growth, and reducing the twin impacts on business and farmers of hikes in landfill tax and the increasing cost of traditional agricultural products due to rising energy costs."

The acquisition increases 4R Group's ability to offer a total waste management solution for packaging wastes, liquids, oils and fat from the food industry. ByProduct Recovery staff will be based at the Group's headquarters in Stourton, Leeds.
