BASF entertains with zero waste white paper

BASF has released a white paper encouraging the entertainment industry to work towards zero waste through implementing better recycling and recovery schemes.

The global chemicals company has teamed up with US recycler Tomra to draw up the guidance, which is aimed primarily at event managers at venues such as stadiums, concert halls, fairgrounds and convention centres.

The paper pushes the importance of zero waste with special focus on organics recovery and commodity recycling, and addresses the cost and efficiency implications of resource management.

It is being released ahead of a global exhibition and networking event for venue managers this month in Florida, US.

BASF’s market development manager for biodegradable polymers Chris Bradless said the recovery of food, compostable food service items and other organic materials were important parts of resource recovery programmes at venues as they often “constitute a higher percentage of a venue’s waste stream”.
