Climate change will boost insurance claims as natural disasters intensify, insurance firm Swiss Re has warned.
Last year brought relatively low claims from natural disasters, but these are likely to go up in the long term, the company said.
In 2006, natural disasters caused a total of $48bn in damages, while catastrophes led to insurance firms paying out $15.9bn, and natural disasters accounting for $11.8bn of that sum, according to Swiss Re.
