Energy from Waste Expo set to launch in 2013

The UK's first major dedicated energy-from-waste exhibition, Energy from Waste Expo 2013, will launch next year at Sustainability Live.

Energy from Waste Expo will co-locate with the fast growing energy and water exhibitions, NEMEX & IWEX and will be held at the NEC, Birmingham on 16-18 April 2013 as part of the Sustainability Live event.

The launch is part of a major restructure of Sustainability Live and is in response to growing demand from the energy-from-waste (EfW) sector for a national niche event.

With the EU directive requirement for 15% of UK energy from renewables by 2020 and continued concerns about the cost effectiveness of some forms of renewable sources, the EfW market is becoming a key growth area.

The launch coincides with government moves to provide more clarity on EfW - guidance is currently being drawn up by Defra in association with WRAP on technology options and best practice.

Show organiser Faversham House, which also runs, says the event will be designed so that buyers and specifiers can make the most of their day covering EfW in all its forms.

Event director Donna Bushell said: "The burgeoning growth within the EfW market will be reflected at Energy from Waste Expo and will provide a showcase for the full spectrum of EfW disciplines.

"Co-location with NEMEX & IWEX provides a compelling reason for both visitors and exhibitors to attend. For many businesses thinking of demand side and waste output from industrial processes, this is the key opportunity to look for sustainable best practice and commercial benefits in one location."

Energy from Waste Expo 2013 is set to form the largest gathering of suppliers and practitioners across the industry, with solutions covering the whole spectrum from advanced thermal treatment such as anaerobic digestion, gasification and pyrolysis as well as pre-treatment processes feeding into these technologies.
