Further details of schemes to encourage Londoners to go green are set to be revealed by Ken Livingstone this autumn.

Mark Watts, senior advisor to the mayor, said a pilot scheme allowing residents to hire green gurus and a system using badges to rate the environmental standards of buildings will be the subject of “major announcements” in the coming weeks.

The two projects are among a number of measures included in the mayor’s London Climate Change Action Plan, which was published earlier this year setting out plans to achieve a 60% cut in the capital’s carbon emissions by 2025.

Mr Watts said: “Londoners don’t have to reduce their quality of life to tackle climate change, but they do have to change the way they live.”
