Sustainability stats: This week in numbers

It's been another packed week of sustainability news, with global reports, new green policies and big business pledges all featuring in our latest gallery round-up.

Two of the biggest green stories of the week focused on waste.

Firstly, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation developed a new tool that will allow European companies to measure how well their products and business models perform in the context of a circular economy.

The need for such a tool was highlighted by another major story this week, as a UNEP report revealed the true extent of the e-waste black market, and the damage it is wreaking on the planet.

A Friends of the Earth report also generated concern, highlighting tge water and land footprint of day-to-day items.

On the bright side the Welsh Assembly introduced the long-awaited Environment Bill, which if passed, would establish ambitious targets for emissions and recycling.

Finally, tech-giant Apple continued its sustainability charge, partnering with WWF-China to protect forests and boost renewable generation.
