The investment has been made by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) as part of its ongoing scheme to build its portfolio of technologies to help reduce CO2 emissions. The competition, which opens on 1 November 2011, will focus on innovative demonstration projects and aims to build on the success of its 2009 feasibility competition.

According to the TSB, it is seeking to take the best concepts to commercialisation, and welcomes new proposals as it hopes to find technologies for large single point emitters of CO2 such as fossil fuelled power plants and energy intensive industries such as chemical and metal processing, paper, glass, ceramics and cement.

As part of the competition, up to £4M will be available to the organisation that demonstrates the viability of its technologies at a design or laboratory scale and are looking to progress to the next stage of development.

A further £500,000 will be open to new feasibility studies as the competition is also looking for new studies into innovative, disruptive CAT technologies.

The final deadline for applications is 13 December 2011. For more information please visit: http://www.innovateuk.org/
