Lisa Wilkinson, director of T-Mac, explained how one firm she had worked with had problems with a large amount of energy use.

This, she’d worked out, was because staff came in first thing and turned the air conditioning to the lowest setting.

They then got cold and turned it up to the hottest setting and repeated the same process throughout the day.

To stop this the team changed the thermostat so it was only taking the temperature up or down a few degrees.

They left this for a short time and then explained to the staff what had happened and they told her they had not realised and had felt just as comfortable.

However, the firm had dramatically cut its energy use and therefore its carbon footprint.
