Sustainability stats: This week in numbers

It has been a remarkable week for renewable energy innovations.

From abandoned golf courses to aeroplanes, clean energy is popping up everywhere, growing in popularity and efficiency all the time, as costs continue to fall.

Electric vehicles were also a hot topic, particularly in London, where Formula E closed its season with a bang, and Mayor Boris Johnson presided over the first ever Clean Bus Conference.

Finally China was thrust into the spotlight, not least because it officially confirmed it would peak its emissions by 2030, and expects to do so beforehand.

Independent research from Globaldata revealed that an expected surge in wind power would help reach that target, as coal is gradually phased out in the most polluting planet on earth.
